Cold Comfort, yay cookies

Today, we went to Cold Comfort, a small, little located in Fernwood. It is located just off Quadra street, next to the Parsonage cafe and WIN Thrift Store. We had very high expectations because our previous ice cream shops had been very memorable. People also rave about this place, so we want to find out why. Lets jump right into the review.

Flavour: 6/10. The ice cream was a little watery and not creamy enough. I had the sea salt caramel and it had a coffee like flavour. Dad had the Hoyne Dark Matter ice cream sandwich, of course. We came to the conclusion that ice cream is better between two cookies than by itself. The macaroon cookies on Dad's sandwich were really good. Mom had the mystery cookie. We think it was vanilla and it tasted really good.

Service/Location: 10/10. The location was great, small, well put together and had great colours. It was very Instagramable. There was lots of places to sit outside. The person behind the counter was the nicest person ever.

Cone/presentation. 6/10 Cold Comfort does not use cones, only cups and cookies. You could pick your cookie if you wanted. I didn't like the wooden spoon. I know it is good for the environment and all that, but it made the ice cream taste weird.

Selection. 8/10. The flavour selection wasn't the best. There were about 5-7 flavours, some standards and some weird ones. The big plus was the selection of take away stuff, single size and pints of ice cream, big and small sandwiches and even ice cream pizza/cake.

In conclusion, definitely a place for the best ice cream sandwiches. No so much for the 'cone' experience.

Next up might be Mosi gelato on West Saanich Road. Or we might try to find some 49 below ice cream. There also might be surprise review!
